This week is Carers Week

Caring can be tough, and you need to look after yourself.
This means looking after your mental wellbeing as well as your physical health. Being a carer can have a negative impact on your physical health – exhaustion, skipping meals, or muscle strain from lifting.

It can also impact on your mental health – you may experience feelings of frustration, anxiety, guilt or depression. We want you to take care of yourself, both your physical health and mental health.

No-one is born a carer.  We become carers at some point at our lives, sometimes as young people, sometimes later in life.  Sometimes we are prepared, but sometimes it comes as a shock and upends our lives and our plans. It can be overwhelming. But remember, you are not alone.

  1. Wellbeing
We all need a break from caring from time to time. Taking a break is vital for your own wellbeing and allows you to be a better carer.
